Key takeaways
- A fixed fee per call. Not a commission, not a share of any premium, and not contingent on you buying anything.
- No insurer pays us, and we publish no ratings, rankings or reviews of insurers.
- There is no form on this site, so we take nothing from you as you read, and we never sell or share reader details. If you email us, we have the address you sent from, used to reply and nothing else.
- This does shape what we write about — we cover topics where readers call. We would rather say that than pretend our incentives are invisible.
The arrangement, in plain terms
This site is free to read. It is paid for by an advertising arrangement with a licensed insurance agency.
When you call the number here, you reach that agency. If the call reaches a defined minimum length, we are paid a fixed fee for it. The fee is set in advance, it is the same for every qualifying call, and it does not change based on anything you do afterwards.
| Do we get paid? | |
|---|---|
| You read a page | No |
| You call the number and speak to our advertising partner | Yes — a fixed fee |
| You buy a policy | No. Not a cent more. Our fee is identical whether you buy or not |
| You buy an expensive policy rather than a cheap one | No difference |
| An insurer wants favorable coverage | We do not accept payment from insurers at all |
| We send your details to anyone | We do not collect your details. There is no form on this site |
What this does to our incentives
Every publisher that takes money has incentives. Most disclosure pages describe theirs in language designed to make them sound like none. Here is ours, described as plainly as we can manage.
| Effect on us | |
|---|---|
| Writing about topics where people call | A real incentive. We write more about non-renewals and roofs than about, say, jewelry scheduling — because that is where readers pick up the phone |
| Recommending you buy something | No incentive. We are paid the same if you call and decide to do nothing |
| Recommending a particular insurer | No incentive, and we do not do it. We publish no ratings or rankings |
| Making the call seem more urgent than it is | A theoretical incentive we work against. Several pages here tell you to get an inspection or gather evidence before calling anyone |
| Keeping you on the page longer | No incentive. We are not paid for attention |
The honest summary: our incentive is that you call, not that you buy. That is a materially better alignment than a commission model, and it is still an incentive. Read us accordingly.
What we do not do
We do not take money from insurers. Not for placement, not for coverage, not for a mention. No insurer has any influence over anything on this site.
We do not sell, share or broker your data. This is easy for us to promise because we have made it structurally impossible: there is no form anywhere on this site, so there is nothing for us to collect as you read, and nothing to sell. The one exception, stated plainly because an absolute claim here would be false: if you email us, we have the address you emailed from. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else.
We never call you. We have no way to. Calls go one direction only — from you, when you choose.
We do not rate, rank or review insurers. A site paid to route calls cannot honestly present itself as an independent rater of the companies involved.
Who actually answers the phone
Calls are answered by a licensed insurance agency, named in the disclosure at the foot of every page along with its National Producer Number so you can verify it independently.
We are not that agency. We do not sell insurance, we are not licensed to, and we cannot advise you about your policy. We publish information; they are licensed to talk to you about coverage. Our licensing page sets out exactly who is licensed for what.
Methodology and sources
This page describes our own commercial arrangement and carries no external sources. It is reviewed whenever that arrangement changes.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost me anything to call?
No. The call is free to you and there is no obligation of any kind. We are paid by our advertising partner, not by you.
Do you get paid more if I buy an expensive policy?
No. Our fee is a fixed amount per qualifying call and does not vary with whether you buy, what you buy, or what it costs.
Will you sell my information?
We do not have your information. There is no form on this site, so we never collect a name, an email address or a phone number from readers.
Why should I believe any of this?
Partly because it is checkable — the agency is named with its producer number at the foot of every page. Partly because of what is absent: no quote form, no email capture, no insurer ratings, no savings claims. Those absences cost us money, which is the best evidence we can offer that they are real.
